Overview
Newsnidan is committed to producing accurate, fair, and accountable journalism. This Editorial Policy explains the standards and procedures we follow when reporting, editing, and publishing news. It is designed to give readers clarity about how we operate and what to expect from our coverage.
Core Principles
Our reporting is driven by the following core principles:
1. Accuracy First
Every story published by Newsnidan is checked against reliable sources. Journalists are required to verify facts, dates, names, places and quotations. If an eyewitness account or an unverified lead is used, we clearly label it as such until it is confirmed.
2. No Paid Influence
We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage. Sponsored content and advertising are kept strictly separate from editorial activities. Any native advertising or sponsored content is labeled clearly to avoid confusing readers.
3. Balanced Reporting
We strive to present multiple perspectives on a topic and to avoid selective reporting that favors one side. When appropriate, we seek comment from all relevant parties and include context that helps readers understand differing viewpoints.
4. Corrections Policy
If we publish an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections are made in the article itself and an editor’s note is added explaining what was changed and why. For significant errors, we publish a standalone correction notice.
5. Source Verification
We verify information using primary and credible secondary sources. Official documents, direct interviews, public records, recognized institutions and established reporting agencies are prioritized. Anonymous sources are used only when necessary and when they provide information that cannot be obtained otherwise; use of anonymous sources requires editorial approval and justification.
Detailed Standards & Practices
Fact-Checking
All factual claims that could affect a person’s reputation, influence public decisions, or have legal/financial consequences are verified by at least two independent sources when possible. Reporters must keep records of the verification steps for editorial review.
Attribution & Sourcing
We attribute information to named sources whenever possible. When using third-party content (images, video, data), we include clear credit lines and permission details. If we report based on another outlet’s exclusive story, we link to or name that outlet and explain how we supplemented the reporting.
Anonymous Sources
Anonymous sourcing is allowed only when:
- The source could face real harm for speaking publicly;
- The information is of high public interest; and
- There is no way to obtain the information from a named source.
Editors must approve anonymous sourcing and assess the credibility of the anonymous source before publication. Whenever possible, we corroborate anonymous claims with documentary evidence or additional sources.
Photo & Video Verification
Multimedia is verified for authenticity. We check metadata, timestamps, geolocation and source provenance. If we cannot verify an image or clip, we either do not use it or clearly mark it as unverified.
Opinion, Analysis & Separation from News
Opinion pieces and analysis are labeled clearly. Opinion content reflects the views of the author or guest contributor and is separate from the newsroom’s news reporting. Editors ensure opinion pieces do not present falsehoods as facts.
Conflicts of Interest
Staff and contributors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest (financial ties, political activities, close personal relationships, etc.). Where a conflict exists, the staff member should recuse themselves and the disclosure should be noted in the story when relevant to the reader’s understanding.
Sponsored Content & Advertising
Sponsored content is clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership.” Advertising and commercial relationships do not influence editorial judgment. Advertisers do not receive editorial control over news content.
User-Generated Content & Comments
We encourage reader participation, but user-generated content is moderated. We remove hate speech, threats, spam and illegal content. Readers who repeatedly violate guidelines may be blocked. Comments do not reflect editorial endorsement.
Corrections & Complaints
How to report an error or complaint: If you believe Newsnidan has published inaccurate or misleading information, please contact us promptly so we can investigate and, if necessary, correct it.
Correction Procedure
- Report received by email or contact form is logged and assigned to an editor.
- Editor reviews original reporting and verification records.
- If an error is confirmed, article is updated and an editor’s note is appended explaining the correction and the time it was made.
- For material corrections (that change the meaning or vital facts), a separate correction notice is published on the site.
Contact for Corrections & Editorial Concerns
Please send correction requests or editorial concerns to: editor@newsnidan.com or use our Contact Us page. We aim to acknowledge all reports within 48 hours.
Transparency & Accountability
We publish author bylines and, where appropriate, short author bios to help readers evaluate the perspective and expertise behind stories. We also publish information about our newsroom structure, editorial oversight and ownership to promote transparency.
Recording Changes
Major updates to a story are recorded with timestamps. All edits that materially change an article’s meaning will be documented in an editor’s note.
Training & Standards
Journalists and editors at Newsnidan receive regular training in verification, digital-security practices, legal considerations and ethical reporting standards.
Legal Notices
Newsnidan follows applicable laws related to defamation, privacy and intellectual property. When legal issues arise, our legal team consults with editors to ensure coverage complies with both legal requirements and journalistic standards.
